Every year, the Gouffre de Padirac offers lovers of unusual experiences the chance to discover its galleries in extraordinary conditions: at dusk and by lantern light.

In 2025, the Explorers' Evenings take on a whole new dimension!

Our 21st-century guide-bateliers will take you back in time as guides trained by none other than Monsieur Edouard-Alfred Martel (first explorer of the Gouffre in 1889)! They'll be dressed in their best frock coats to show you around the site and tell you their best historical anecdotes.

EMBARK ON A TIMELESS EVENING

You will have the honour of being among the first visitors to the Gouffre de Padirac at the end of the 19th century. You'll set off to explore this famous ‘Devil's Hole’, which has intrigued the whole of Paris for many years, in the footsteps of its first explorer, Edouard-Alfred Martel.

Accompanied by guide-bateliers who were friends of Mr Martel, you will discover this new world by the light of your lanterns - electricity not yet having arrived in the underground galleries...
 

WHAT TO EXPECT

• A special welcome in the evening: the Gouffre is reserved for 40 people
• A tasting of our Cuvée des 130 ans (wine buried deep in the Gouffre de Padirac)
• A buffet dinner at the Auberge du Gouffre featuring local gastronomy
• Over 2 hours of exploration by lantern with a Belle Epoque guide!
