For the 2023 music festival, the Gouffre de Padirac is inviting blues and soul singer Kaz Hawkins to perform two new evening concerts on 23 and 24 June.

Kaz Hawkins' voice will thrill the public in the galleries of the Gouffre accompanied by the Soulshine Voices choir before thrilling them in the site's park with her musicians after a cocktail reception.
The audience will experience a unique marriage between the natural beauty of the site and the music of Kaz Hawkins, which will take on a particularly profound and spiritual dimension in this timeless space.

A PROJECT WITH A HEART

After discovering a poignant portrait of Kaz Hawkins in the press, Laetitia de Ménibus-Gravier, CEO of the Gouffre de Padirac operating company, fell in love with the music of this talented artist. At the end of 2022, she contacted Kaz Hawkins' team to propose an exceptional concert project at the Gouffre. This was followed by a meeting on site - as if it were a matter of course - and the creation of an original site-specific show to make Kaz's powerful and sensitive voice resonate in the heart of this natural setting.

Very popular in her native Ireland, Kaz Hawkins' artistic universe is plural and colourful, woven with simple words to express strong emotions. Although she has never made a secret of her troubled past, her atypical story has become a source of inspiration for writing soulful lyrics, delivered on stage with a rare intensity and sincerity.

Poignant in songs such as « Lipstick and Cocaïne » or « Surviving », Kaz Hawkins also knows how to share her joy and her rage for life on tracks like « Hallelujah Happy People ».
Somewhere between blues, soul and gospel, this indomitable fighter draws on the roots of Afro-American music with a solar and overwhelming energy.
 

The lyrics of « The River Thats Sings » will glide with delicate accuracy over the meandering underground river of the Gouffre de Padirac.
 

This exceptional event will take place just after the release of Kaz Hawkins' next album on 26 May: Until We Meet Again. The public will be the first to hear these new songs.
